We are excited to announce that we are a grant candidate for the Goldhirsh Foundation’s LA2050 challenge. We submitted our Adventure Education Aboard L.A.’s Official Tall Ships project in the category “LA is the Best Place to Learn.” We’re proud to participate in a grants program that does such great work to achieve a better future for all Angelenos!
We’re now only steps away from receiving $100,000 for our project, which will allow us to provide 40 at-sea programs for middle schools who cannot afford to pay and are already on our waiting list, and “free” community programs (Sail LA!) where Angelenos can sail with their families and become part of a real working crew.
We can win this challenge with your help: the grant selection process is strongly impacted by your vote. The public voting period starts October 20th and ends November 3rd at Noon.
Check out our application and video at the GOOD Maker website. There is a section for comments to let your voice be heard. Please share with your colleagues, friends and family for them to comment too!
Join the LA2050 challenge to build a better LA. Your support helps LAMI make Los Angeles a better place to learn by promoting adventure education at sea where learning comes to life. On behalf of all Los Angeles Maritime Institute’s staff and crew: Thank you!
