In January, the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA) and Port of Los Angeles presented the 2024 State of the Port event, and it was an inspiring afternoon on the LA Waterfront. Opportunity was a key theme, as were the organizations and people involved, many of whom we are proud to have as partners.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was among the speakers, and she shared her support of the work being done at the Port of LA. She even touched on “inspirational nonprofits” and the opportunities we provide, referring to the Port as “an opportunity engine that benefits everyone.”

Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka said that among the questions that drive them are how to serve the community and how to protect the environment. He also highlighted the Port’s commitment to the surrounding neighborhoods, including the Community Investment Grants that provide significant support to nonprofits like us. We are proud to be among the beneficiaries!

Community events like this energize us as we look to the future, because we know it’s a future filled with opportunity. Click here to learn more and watch a video of the event produced by the Port of Los Angeles.
