Captain Garry Heinrich has circumnavigated the globe seven times! He has fond memories of riding the mast of the Peking while rounding Cape Horn. He’s sailed on the Pilgrim, Lady Washington, Hawaiian Chieftain and the Spirit of Dana Point before joining us at LAMI. Captain Garry taught middle school science for 25 years and coached a surfing team to two national championships. He’s an animal lover, too. As the volunteer coordinator for the Central Puget Sound Marine Mammal Stranding Network, Garry has “adopted” a harbor seal named Elsie Mae who gets into all sorts of mischief. He also loves hanging out with his dogs Captain and Bo on Whidby Island. Garry’s favorite sea shanty is “Health to the Company” and he loves taco salad.
