Come find us at our booth

Stop by the LAMI Topsail booth and learn about our programs – from youth sailing adventures to our tall ship voyages that have transformed the lives of thousands of young people from the LA area. Whether you’re a longtime supporter, a curious family, or someone who’s never set foot on a boat in your life, we’d love to meet you.

Our team will be on hand to talk about Sea Camp, our signature summer program, as well as the broader LAMI mission: using the challenge and beauty of the sea to build character, confidence, and a love of learning in young people.

Why a tall ship organization belongs at a maker faire

At first glance, tall ships and maker faires might seem like unlikely neighbors. But look a little closer, and the connection is unmistakable. Maritime education is STEM education. Navigation, seamanship, meteorology, and marine science all live at the intersection of hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving. That’s exactly what City of STEM is built to celebrate.

LAMI Topsail has spent decades putting young people on the water and showing them that the ocean is one of the greatest classrooms on earth. This April, we’re bringing that spirit to Exposition Park alongside 200+ other exhibitors, makers, scientists, and innovators from across Southern California.

“The sea teaches you things you can’t learn in a classroom, teamwork, resilience, and the kind of curiosity that keeps you asking questions long after the voyage is over.”

SoCal’s largest STEM celebration

City of STEM + Los Angeles Maker Faire is the official science festival of Los Angeles County, produced by the Columbia Memorial Space Center. This year’s event features more than 200 exhibitors, all-day programming for kids and adults, food, entertainment, and the kind of hands-on energy that you simply can’t find anywhere else. It’s free, it’s for all ages, and it’s one of the best ways to spend a Sunday in LA this spring.

We’re proud to be part of an event that reflects the spirit of our own mission, bringing together communities across Greater Los Angeles to explore, create, and discover. See you on the shore.
